Kamjong, Manipur, July 24, 2025: Demonstrating a strong commitment to ecological responsibility, St. Peter School in Kamjong District, Manipur, hosted a significant Environment Day programme on July 23 aimed at fostering environmental consciousness among students and the wider community.
The event, held on the school campus, drew the participation of dignitaries including two Majors from the Assam Rifles and the Officer-in-Charge of Chassad Police Station. The Village Headman, representing the District Forest Officer who was unable to attend due to official obligations, presided as chief guest.
The programme featured a student-led exhibition highlighting environmental issues and possible solutions. Students took the lead in preparing and presenting exhibits that reflected their understanding of ecological challenges. Their active involvement underscored the school’s effort to build environmental responsibility from a young age.
A tree plantation drive was also organised within the school campus, with active participation from students, staff, and attending officials. The initiative served as a practical expression of the environmental values discussed during the programme.
In his address, the Principal, Fr. Angelus Jingkai, exhorted everyone to actively promote environmental awareness and take meaningful steps toward protecting the planet. He acknowledged the presence of the invited dignitaries and thanked the school community for their commitment to the cause.
