Bengaluru, December 13, 2025: St. Joseph Hindi Migrants’ Community of St. John Maria Vianney Church, Mahadevapura, Whitefield, organised a Pre-Christmas Celebration, bringing together members of the migrant community and faithful from neighbouring parishes, including CTC Church, Carmelram Sarjapura, and Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Fr. Franklin Minj, Secretary of the Bangalore Migrant Commission, was the Chief Guest and principal celebrant of the Holy Eucharist. Several priests from the region concelebrated, marking the occasion with prayer and fellowship.
In his homily, Fr. Nirnal Murmu reflected on the Advent message of Immanuel – “The Lord is with us”, encouraging the faithful to remain hopeful and united as they prepare for Christmas. The liturgy was supported by a choir that led the congregation in worship.
A key highlight of the celebration was the facilitation of welfare initiatives for North Indian migrant workers. Led by Fr. Sameer Minj SJ and the Department of Labour Migration, ISI, the programme included registration for E-Shram Cards, enrolment under the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, and a medical health camp organised in collaboration with the RUTH Foundation NGO.
Religious sisters and members of Hindi migrant groups participated actively in the programme, while cultural performances, including traditional dance, added to the festive spirit of the gathering.
The organisers acknowledged the support extended by Don Bosco College in hosting the event and expressed gratitude to volunteers and coordinators who ensured its smooth conduct.
The celebration concluded with Christmas greetings and New Year wishes for 2026, as the community reaffirmed its commitment to faith, unity and service among migrant families in Bengaluru.
