Patna Sisters Hold Seminar on Synodal Church and Leadership in Delhi

NEW DELHI, November 1, 2026: The Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, North East Province, Patna, organised a five-day seminar on *Synodal Church and Leadership* at the CRI House, New Delhi, from October 27 to 31.

Sr Inigo SSAM served as the resource person for the seminar, which focused on synodality as a way of being Church and exercising leadership through listening, dialogue, collective discernment and shared responsibility.

The sessions highlighted that synodal leadership is not about power, position or authority but about walking together, respecting differences and fostering participation. Participants reflected on the need to build relationships based on equality, mutual respect and accountability.

The seminar also explored leadership in the light of the congregation's spirituality, rooted in the compassionate love of Christ Crucified. It stressed the importance of prayer, integrity, authenticity and leading by example, while encouraging leaders to respond creatively to emerging challenges and changing needs.

Participants were also challenged to uphold human dignity, empower others and ensure that the voices of marginalised and often unheard people receive attention. The discussions emphasised creating inclusive spaces where everyone can contribute their gifts and share responsibility for the common mission.

The seminar reaffirmed the congregation's commitment to strengthening synodal practices in its communities and ministries through respectful listening, transparency, empathy and collaboration.

Provincial Sr Valsa SCSC expressed gratitude to Sr Inigo for guiding the sessions and acknowledged the hospitality and support of the CRI House staff.
