Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Again After Op Sindoor; Targets Multiple Sectors Along LoC

Poonch, J&K, May 8, 2025: In the early hours of May 8, the Pakistani Army resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting Indian positions in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor, the Mint reported on Thursday. The incident occurred a day after India launched precision airstrikes under Operation Sindoor. The firing, which began during the intervening night of May 7 and 8, involved both small arms and artillery. Indian security forces swiftly retaliated to suppress the hostile activity, ensuring civilian areas remained safeguarded.

This renewed escalation follows India’s targeted strikes on terror infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and aimed at nine sites identified as hubs for the planning and execution of cross-border terrorism.

An official statement from the Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace along the LoC, but emphasised that any provocation would be met with firm and calculated military action. The Ministry of Defence is closely monitoring the situation.
