Over 70,000 Pilgrims Expected to Participate in the Jubilee of Movements in Rome

Vatican City, 5 June 2025: More than 70,000 pilgrims from over 100 countries are expected to gather in Rome from June 7 to 8, 2025, for the Jubilee of Movements, Associations, and New Communities. Pilgrims from nations including Italy, Spain, Germany, France, the United States, Brazil, the Philippines, and Ethiopia will be taking part in the two-day celebration.

The Jubilee represents a major spiritual milestone, as it brings together members of ecclesial movements, new communities, associations of the faithful, and various missionary and charismatic groups for the first time with Pope Leo XIV.

The event will begin on Saturday, June 7, with pilgrims making their Jubilee Year pilgrimage through the Holy Doors of the Papal Basilicas. The Holy Doors at each Papal Basilica will be open to pilgrims till evening.

In the afternoon, participants will gather in St. Peter’s Square for an international cultural celebration featuring music and performances by groups from around the world.

The entertainment programme will include performances by a 130-member international choir and testimonies from lay leaders, such as peacebuilder Hussam Abu Sini from Israel; Nicola Buricchi, a husband and father who has overcome drug addiction; and Pedro and Maria Begoña Sánchez, missionary spouses serving in Ukraine and parents of twelve children.

Following the programme, there will be a pre-vigil service which will help the faithful enter into a spirit of prayer. Later, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Pentecost Vigil, which will include a Liturgy of the Word, Renewal of Baptismal Promises, and a papal homily.

The Jubilee will conclude on June 8 with the Pentecost Sunday Mass , also led by the Pope in St. Peter’s Square. Admission to the Mass will be open and ticket-free for all pilgrims.
