Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Novena: 9 Days of Prayer with Mary

August 30, 2026: What are you carrying in your heart today? A family concern, a difficult marriage, a personal struggle or a prayer that seems unanswered? Bring it to Mary. As the Church prepares to celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 8, Catholics are invited to join a special nine-day novena beginning August 30.

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Novena is an opportunity to place our families, marriages and personal intentions before God through the loving intercession of the Blessed Mother.

Throughout the centuries, countless Christians have turned to Mary in times of need, trusting in her maternal care and powerful intercession. This novena invites the faithful to do the same — not simply asking Mary for help, but allowing her to lead us closer to Jesus.

A Novena for Families and Marriages

The prayers focus especially on hope, love, mercy, compassion and holiness within family life. Participants are encouraged to pray for stronger and more loving marriages, peace in their homes, and abundant grace for their families.

The reflections also draw attention to Mary's own life: her upbringing in a family devoted to God, her complete obedience to God's will, her relationship with Jesus and her example of faithfulness and holiness.

The novena encourages us to imitate Mary by becoming more patient, loving and charitable towards our parents, grandparents and loved ones, while seeking to model our families on the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

Each day includes prayers such as the Hail Mary and an opportunity to present personal intentions to God through Mary's intercession.
