PANAJI, Goa, March 1, 2025: The Archdiocese of Goa and Daman will organise its annual Diocesan Walking Pilgrimage on Sunday, March 9, 2025, the first Sunday of Lent. This year’s edition of the pilgrimage has been themed "As Pilgrims of Hope, Let Us Proclaim the Good News. The pilgrimage will commence at 2:00 a.m. with pilgrims from five designated centres—Neura, Cansaulim, Bambolim, Verna, and Vasco—embarking on the spiritual journey on foot to the Sanctuary of St. Joseph Vaz in Sancoale. On arriving at the Sanctuary, pilgrims will participate in adoration at 5:00 a.m., followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass.
In a video released on Friday, March 28, His Eminence, Most Rev. Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, extended an invitation to all Catholics from the Archdiocese to participate in the pilgrimage with devotion and fervour. He emphasised that the pilgrimage is not merely a physical walk but a spiritual journey that must be undertaken in a spirit of penance.
Cardinal Ferrao encouraged the faithful to embrace this pilgrimage as an opportunity for prayer, personal conversion, and spiritual renewal. Addressing the youth of the archdiocese, he urged them to participate in the event wholeheartedly, walking together as a synodal Church that listens to God’s voice and supports one another in faith.
The Archdiocese of Goa and Daman encourages all Catholics to participate in the Walking Pilgrimage to deepen their faith, renew their hope in God's mercy, and strengthen their commitment to love and service.
