INDORE, October 21, 2026: The 15th Three-Day Bible Convention of the Catholic Diocese of Indore called on the faithful to deepen their relationship with God through Scripture, practise forgiveness and strengthen family relationships.
Held from October 18 to 20 at St Paul Higher Secondary School under the theme “A Year of Grace of the Merciful God through the Gospel”, the convention brought together faithful for prayer, biblical reflection, healing prayers and spiritual renewal.
Addressing the gathering, Bishop Chacko emphasised the transformative power of the Word of God, saying it draws people closer to God and inspires faith, healing and spiritual growth.
The main preacher, Fr Vineet Pereira, urged participants to recognise God’s love and surrender their lives to Him. He also stressed the importance of love within families, describing it as essential to Christian life and relationships.
Bishop Thomas Mathew of Indore called on the faithful to seek forgiveness, reconcile with one another and restore strained relationships. He said the convention offered an opportunity to overcome differences and strengthen harmony within families and communities.
Archbishop A. A. S. Durairaj, SVD, of Bhopal, celebrated the Eucharist on the final day and reflected on how the Word of God inspires, purifies hearts and renews lives.
Alongside the main convention, the diocesan Youth Commission organised Kairos 2026, a Bible convention for children that attracted more than 400 participants. Led by Fr Mahesh Sulya, director of the Youth Commission, the programme combined prayer with games and dance to engage children in faith formation.
The convention also recognised individuals for their service to the Church and society. Participants in a Bible-writing contest were honoured, while students received awards for academic excellence.
Daily activities included the Rosary, Eucharistic adoration, praise and worship, and healing prayers, drawing faithful from parishes across the diocese.
Bishop Thomas Mathew formally concluded the three-day gathering on October 20, urging the faithful to carry its message of God’s mercy, forgiveness and spiritual renewal into their daily lives.
