Udupi, Karnataka, June 27, 2025 : In a remarkable display of solidarity during this Jubilee year, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Udupi unit has successfully wrapped up its ‘Attire of Hope’ donation drive, gathering an impressive 700 kilograms of clothing for children in Arunachal Pradesh. Packed into 31 boxes, these contributions stand as a powerful testament to the generosity and compassion of the Udupi parish community.
As Pope Francis reminds us, “The Christian vocation is not a life that is lived in isolation, but one that is given.” The ‘Attire of Hope’ initiative, which ran throughout June, truly embodied this call to selfless service, aiming to provide essential clothing to less fortunate children and demonstrating the parish’s commitment to supporting communities far beyond its own borders.
The response from parishioners was overwhelming. Individuals and families alike came forward to donate clothes, driven by a strong spirit of charity and a shared desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Volunteers played a vital role in collecting, sorting, and packing the garments, ensuring that each contribution would reach those who need it most.
“This selfless act of kindness is a shining example of the parish’s dedication to spreading love and compassion,” said one organiser of the drive.
More than merely a charitable effort, the initiative served to strengthen bonds within the parish community while fostering a deeper sense of connection with fellow citizens across the country. The successful conclusion of ‘Attire of Hope’ highlights how small individual efforts, united by faith and purpose, can collectively bring significant change and hope to those facing hardship.
Through this act of giving, the parish has demonstrated that true Christian living extends beyond prayer and worship, thriving instead in acts of generosity and solidarity with the vulnerable.
