ICYM Brings Faith-Based Youth Perspective to UN Climate Negotiations in Germany

BONN, Germany, June 11, 2026: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) is representing the voice of faith-based youth from India at the United Nations' mid-year climate negotiations in Bonn, Germany, advocating to ensure that youth-led, faith-based climate action from India is integrated into global climate policy.

The 64th Sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) are being held from June 8 to 18 in Bonn, Germany.

Representing the collective youth voice through the Policy Pool of the International Federation of Catholic Parochial Youth Movements (FIMCAP), Prince David is participating in the negotiations, advocating for the integration of youth-led, faith-based climate action from India into global climate policy.

With an academic background in Political Science, Public Administration and Disaster Management, Prince brings practical grassroots experience to the forum. He previously coordinated ICYM India's Climate Change Campaign and participated in the international forum UNFCCC COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. His focus remains on bridging the gap between high-level policy and community-level action.

In Bonn, Prince David's primary focus is on Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE). He emphasised that policy requires local tools, knowledge and agency to be effective.

The ICYM and FIMCAP delegation is advocating for the implementation of the Glasgow Work Programme by pushing for concrete actions on ACE to move negotiations from text to reality. The delegation is also demanding greater support for climate education to equip young leaders globally.

Another key priority is the integration of national ACE strategies directly into countries' Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans.

"True climate empowerment happens when we connect the head, the heart, and the hands. As young people of faith, we are bringing the values of stewardship and community to the core of climate education. Through ACE, we bridge the gap between scientific policy and moral responsibility, empowering the next generation to lead with both purpose and practical action."
