Fr. Prashant, Director of IMS Retreat Centre Passes Away at 70; Funeral on December 23

Kochi, December 20, 2025 — Fr. Prashant (70), a senior priest of the IMS Delhi Province, passed away on Saturday morning after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last at Aster Medicity Hospital, Kochi, where he had been undergoing treatment for multiple heart-related complications.

Fr. Prashant had been on ventilator support due to several serious medical conditions. His two sisters were present with him at the hospital at the time of his death. Despite sustained medical efforts, his condition did not improve. The family later conveyed their satisfaction with the treatment provided by the doctors and hospital staff, acknowledging that every possible effort was made to save his life.

The demise of Fr. Prashant has come as a deep shock to the IMS fraternity. His passing is regarded as an irreparable loss, particularly for IMS Dhyan Bhawan, Punnapra, Alleppey, where he made significant contributions towards its development and overall progress. His dedicated service, commitment to ministry and leadership left a lasting impact on the institution and the community he served.

Expressing grief over the loss, the IMS Delhi Province extended heartfelt condolences to the members of IMS Dhyan Bhawan, fellow priests, religious communities and the bereaved family members. The Province also remembered Fr. Prashant with gratitude for his life of service and pastoral dedication.

While mourning his untimely departure, the Province called upon the faithful to thank God for the gift of Fr. Prashant’s life and ministry, and to commend his soul to the infinite mercy of God.

Following consultations with the Bishop of Alleppey, community members and Fr. Prashant’s family, it has been decided that the funeral and requiem services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 3.00 pm.

The IMS community joins together in prayer, remembering a beloved priest whose life and service will continue to inspire many. May his soul rest in peace.
