Archbishop Highlights Universal Message of Christmas at Inter-School Carol Competition in Patna

Patna, December 20, 2025 — The universal message of Christmas and its continuing relevance were highlighted at the 16th Anthony Perry Inter-School Carol Competition held in Patna on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, Sebastian Kalupura said Christmas holds a unique place among festivals as its values transcend religious and cultural boundaries. He noted that while the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated in different cultural forms across the world, its core message of joy, hope and goodwill remains universal and enduring.

The competition, organised by the All India Anglo-Indian Association, Patna Branch, was hosted at St Dominic Savio’s High School, Nasriganj, Digha. Around 400 students from 16 schools across the city participated, presenting Christmas carols focused on the Nativity and the spirit of the season. A musical cantata portraying the birth of Jesus emerged as one of the highlights of the programme.

The programme also featured brief addresses by representatives of the host institution and the organising association, who underscored Christmas as a time of sharing, harmony and cultural unity.

The annual inter-school competition once again provided a platform for students to convey the Christmas message through music, reinforcing its status as a prominent event in the city’s festive calendar.
