Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes Celebrated with Devotion at St. Francis Assisi Church in Tallur

Tallur, Karnataka, February 13, 2026: The faithful of St. Francis Assisi Church came together in large numbers on Tuesday to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Patroness of the Sick, in a solemn and prayer-filled observance organised by the parish Health Commission.

The celebration began with the recitation of the Rosary, setting a reflective tone for the Eucharistic liturgy that followed. The Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Dancy Martis OFM Cap, Principal of St. Philip Neri English Medium School. He was assisted by the Parish Priest, Fr. Edwin D’Souza.

In his homily, Fr. Martis underscored the spiritual significance of the feast, noting that devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes deepens faith and strengthens trust in God, especially in times of illness and suffering. He reminded the congregation that the Blessed Virgin Mary continues to be a source of comfort and hope for the sick and those facing trials.

Encouraging the faithful to remain steadfast in prayer, he called for renewed devotion to the Rosary, obedience to God’s will, and a life marked by love and personal transformation. He also urged them to turn to God with confidence during moments of difficulty, without yielding to despair.

Members of the parish Health Commission led the prayers of the faithful during the Mass, highlighting the Church’s pastoral concern for the sick and vulnerable.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, devotees participated in a candlelight procession carrying the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes around the church premises. The celebration concluded with the anointing of the faithful with holy oil, invoking God’s healing grace upon all present.

More than 200 parishioners and devotees attended the feast, receiving blessings and reaffirming their faith in a spirit of communal prayer and devotion.
