Diocese of Chikmagalur Celebrates 75th Birthday of Bishop T. Anthony Swamy

Feb 14, 2026: Chikmagalur, February 14, 2026 — The Diocese of Chikmagalur marked the 75th birthday of Bishop T. Anthony Swamy with a solemn thanksgiving celebration on February 13, honoring his years of pastoral leadership and dedicated service to the local Church.

A Eucharistic celebration was held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Chikmagalur, where Bishop Swamy presided over the liturgy, joined by clergy from across the diocese. Priests, religious, and lay faithful gathered in large numbers, offering prayers of gratitude for the bishop’s life and ministry and expressing unity within the diocesan community.

Following the liturgy, a felicitation programme was organized in his honour. Representatives of the clergy, religious congregations, and lay faithful conveyed their appreciation for his pastoral vision, spiritual guidance, and commitment to strengthening ecclesial life in the region.

Speakers highlighted the growth and initiatives witnessed in the diocese during his tenure, noting his role in fostering spiritual renewal, promoting developmental activities, and strengthening communion among the faithful.
