Mumbai, July 14, 2026: Strengthening leadership rooted in Gospel values and collaborative ministry was the focus of a Pastoral Leadership Session organised by the Dimensions Global Christian Chamber of Commerce (DGCCC) in collaboration with St. John the Evangelist Parish, Marol. The programme brought together 38 participants, including priests, Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) members, and Small Christian Community (SCC) representatives.
The interactive session was facilitated by leadership consultant and trainer Vincent D'Silva, who guided participants through discussions on effective leadership in parish and professional settings. Using practical exercises, case studies, and group interactions, he highlighted how leadership grounded in service, collaboration, and Christian values can strengthen parish communities and encourage greater participation in the Church's mission.
A central theme of the programme was the Christian understanding of leadership as a vocation of service rather than a position of authority. Participants reflected on the call to inspire, guide, and empower others in the spirit of Christ, embracing servant leadership as the foundation of parish ministry.
The session also explored the relationship between leadership and management, emphasising that while management focuses on planning and administration, leadership provides vision, motivates people, and fosters positive change. Participants examined how these complementary roles contribute to effective parish governance and pastoral planning.
Another important discussion compared corporate and pastoral leadership, underscoring that pastoral ministry places people, faith formation, compassion, and community-building at its heart. The programme encouraged parish leaders to cultivate Christ-centred leadership that nurtures vibrant and mission-oriented faith communities.
Participants welcomed the practical nature of the training, noting that it enhanced their confidence in leadership, strengthened communication and teamwork, and offered useful approaches to pastoral planning and community engagement. The programme also reinforced collaboration between priests, PPC members, and SCC representatives while renewing their commitment to evangelisation.
Fr. Anthony Fernandes, Parish Priest of St. John the Evangelist Parish and Dean of the Andheri Deanery, highlighted DGCCC's commitment to forming values-based leaders capable of making a positive contribution to both the Church and society.
During the programme, Immanuel Joseph and Agnelo Rodrigues introduced participants to DGCCC's initiatives in leadership development, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, business networking, and parish capacity building, inviting them to participate in its ongoing formation programmes.
The session concluded with participants expressing appreciation for the practical insights and renewed understanding of leadership as a ministry of faith, service, and transformation.
Through its leadership formation initiatives, DGCCC continues to support parish communities in India and abroad by equipping clergy and lay leaders with the skills and values needed to foster vibrant, collaborative, and mission-focused communities.
