Christian leaders Celebrate Jubilee 2025 in Mysuru, Karnataka

Mysuru, Sept. 15, 2025 — Members of the United Christian Forum’s (UCF) Mysuru unit, together with clergy and leaders from multiple Christian denominations, gathered today at Infant Jesus Church in Mysuru to pray, reflect and strengthen bonds of Christian fellowship. Organised by the Diocese of Mysore as part of its Jubilee 2025 initiatives, the gathering aimed to renew the faith of the participants, promote ecumenical unity among them, and encourage collaborative witness and service.

The meeting opened with a prayer and Scripture reading by Pastor Chelliah M., followed by a prayer from Pastor Elisha, Area Chairman of the CSI Church. Msgr. Thomas Thennattil formally welcomed all the attendees and reiterated the UCF’s goal of uniting Christians across denominational lines for common witness, service and dialogue.

Fr. John Sagaya Pushparaj, UCF Secretary for Ecumenism; Pastor Timothy John, Coordinator for UCF; and Pastor Subramanya, Secretary of UCF, offered brief reflections during the meeting. In their respective sessions, each emphasised the importance of prayer, cooperation, and solidarity, reminding the assembly of their shared mission in Christ.

Bishop Sebastian Adayanthrath of Mandya, reflecting on Jesus’ sending of the disciples two by two (cf. Mark 6:7), emphasised the importance of partnership, collaboration, and mutual support in Christian mission. He urged all the participants to carry forward this missionary zeal through concrete acts of cooperation and service.

Archbishop Bernard Moras, Apostolic Administrator of Mysore, delivered the presidential address of the meeting. In his message, he invited the assembly to see the Jubilee year 2025 as a sacred opportunity to renew faith, deepen Christian unity, and become pilgrims of hope journeying together. He also emphasised the importance of bearing witness to Christ’s love in society through unity, service, and fraternity.

A brief open forum followed, providing space for clarifications and fostering dialogue among participants.

Fr. Arul Selva Kumar delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the participants and to the management of Infant Jesus Church for their warm hospitality. The meeting concluded with a prayer led by Pastor Gurushanthai of the CSI Church, followed by a fellowship breakfast.
