Catholic Youth Brings India’s Voice to Global Climate Talks at COP29

Azerbaijan, November 13, 2024: Prince David, Coordinator for G India under the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and part of the CCBI Youth Commission, is representing India at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, as a FIMCAP delegate. Held from November 11 to 24, 2024, this global climate conference convenes international leaders to set actionable goals and financial commitments to combat climate change.

Prince David is working closely with various working groups, from environmental adaptation to human rights, aiming to shape sustainable policies and secure funding that will drive global mitigation efforts.

Chosen through a rigorous selection process, Prince David stands among six global representatives selected by FIMCAP (the International Federation of Catholic Parochial Youth Movements), alongside delegates from Asia, Africa and Europe. His attendance at COP29 places him within the UNFCCC’s highest decision-making body, where international legal frameworks for climate action are set. 

Prince David’s primary mission at the conference is to advocate for climate justice by engaging policymakers on the urgent need for sustainable development policies and by pushing for new climate-focused reforms.
