Poondi, Tamil Nadu, July 9, 2025 — In a deeply moving celebration of faith and courage, the Tamil version of The Face of the Faceless — a film portraying the life and martyrdom of Blessed Rani Maria — was officially launched at the historic Poondi Madha Basilica. The event took place during the Tamil Nadu Bishops’ Council (TNBC) meeting and drew the presence of bishops, priests, religious, and lay faithful, along with representatives of the Tamil Nadu Conference of Religious India (TNCRI).
The launch began with a heartfelt welcome extended to all attendees, who had gathered to witness this moment of spiritual reflection through cinema. Gratitude was expressed to Fr. David Arockiam and the dedicated Madha TV team for their support in making both the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film accessible to wider audiences.
A behind-the-scenes “making-of” video was screened, offering an intimate glimpse into the film's production journey — highlighting the passion, perseverance, and prayer that went into its creation. Directed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Dr. Shaison P. Ouseph and produced by Dr. Sandra D’Souza Rana, the film has already won over 107 international awards and qualified for Oscar consideration.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Ouseph shared how the selfless life and powerful witness of Blessed Rani Maria moved him deeply and served as the inspiration for this project. Her story, marked by forgiveness in the face of violence, continues to speak to hearts across cultures and languages.
The Tamil version was formally released by the President of the Tamil Nadu Bishops’ Council, joined by several archbishops, bishops, and TNCRI members. More than just a film, The Face of the Faceless is a call to reflect on Gospel values of courage, mercy, justice, and reconciliation.
