Roing, Arunachal Pradesh, May 16, 2026 — Young Catholics of the Diocese of Miao have launched a unique prayer initiative in preparation for the Great Jubilee 2033, encouraging youth to pause each day at 20:33 hours for prayer and reflection.
The initiative was unveiled during a three-day Youth Convention held at Divine Word School in Roing, where around 350 young people from eight districts of eastern Arunachal Pradesh gathered for prayer, formation and fellowship.
As part of the campaign, participants set daily alarms on their mobile phones for 8:33 p.m., accompanied by the message “Thy Kingdom Come.” The reminder is intended to invite young people to stop briefly each evening and offer a moment of silent prayer wherever they may be.
Addressing the gathering, George Pallipparambil underlined the importance of the forthcoming Jubilee year, which will commemorate 2,000 years of the Church and the missionary mandate entrusted by the Risen Christ.
“The whole world is looking towards 2033,” the bishop said, calling on the youth to become active participants in the spiritual preparation for the historic celebration. He encouraged them to use the daily alarm not merely as a routine notification, but as an opportunity to deepen their relationship with God through prayer and reflection.
Newly elected diocesan youth president Khuntang Mossang described the initiative as a meaningful commitment by young Catholics to prepare spiritually for the Jubilee celebrations. He said the campaign seeks to unite youth across the diocese in a common rhythm of prayer and faith.
The convention also featured an address by Mukut Mithi, former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. He encouraged young people to work towards positive social transformation while remaining rooted in their cultural heritage and traditional wisdom.
Other speakers included Oshi Ette, who reflected on social responsibility, and Ajin Joseph, who spoke on the popular Christian series The Chosen and its relevance for young believers today.
The programme included cultural dance competitions, Bible tableau presentations, group discussions and the election of new office-bearers for the diocesan youth commission.
Organisers said the initiative aims to foster a spirit of unity, prayer and missionary commitment among young people as the Church journeys towards the Great Jubilee celebrations in 2033.
