Youth Leadership Training Programme Poster Unveiled in Kerala

Kerala, January 10, 2026: The official poster of the Youth Mission Animation Programme (YMAP) has been formally launched, marking the beginning of a new leadership formation initiative for young people across Kerala.

Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal, President of the Kerala Regional Latin Catholic Bishops’ Conference (KRLCBC), unveiled the poster, highlighting the Church’s commitment to nurturing mission-oriented and service-driven youth leadership.

The programme is organised by the KRLCBC Youth Commission in association with Communio, an initiative of the Conference of Catholic Bishops’ of India (CCBI). YMAP is a structured leadership training programme designed to empower young people, with a special emphasis on leadership formation rooted in mission, service and Christian values.

Several Church leaders and youth representatives attended the launch. Among them were Bishop Christudas Rajappan, General Secretary of the KRLCBC, and Bishop Dennis Kuruppassery, the newly elected Chairman of the KRLCBC Youth Commission. Also present were Fr Anoop Kalathithara OSJ, Executive Secretary of the KRLCBC Youth Commission, Mr Paul Jose, President of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement Latin (KCYM Latin), along with other young leaders of KCYM Latin from across the state.

The organisers announced that the first YMAP training programme will take place from 16 to 18 January in Kozhikode (Calicut). The residential training aims to equip young leaders with values-based leadership skills, a strong missionary outlook and a deeper sense of responsibility towards active participation in both Church and society.

Through YMAP, the KRLCBC Youth Commission seeks to form a new generation of committed Catholic leaders who can respond creatively and faithfully to contemporary challenges, while remaining rooted in the mission of the Church.

The launch of the poster signals the formal beginning of preparations for the programme and reflects the growing emphasis on youth leadership and mission animation within the Latin Catholic Church in Kerala.
