YOUCAT Training Program Held For Youth Leaders From Udupi Diocese

UDUPI, March 4, 2025: The Udupi Diocese Chapter of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) conducted SPIRIT QUEST, a half-day YOUCAT training program at Anugraha Pastoral Centre, Udupi, on February 16, 2025. The event was attended by 38 youth leaders from across the diocese. The program aimed to educate participants on the YOUCAT (Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church) and enhance their ability to lead faith-based discussions in their communities.

The event commenced with a Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Stephen Fernandes, Youth Director of the Diocese of Udupi. Following this, Rev. Fr. Alwyn D’Souza, Director of the Family Commission, Mangalore, led insightful sessions on the origins, significance, and impact of YOUCAT, emphasising its accessible Q&A format tailored for young Catholics.

Later, participants actively engaged in discussions on key topics, including marriage, relationships, God’s mercy, and Sunday observance. Through group interactions, they shared personal insights and developed strategies to conduct effective YOUCAT sessions within their respective units. Lisha D’Souza, YOUCAT in-charge in the Diocese of Udupi, guided the youth on proper session reporting methods.

The event concluded with Nithin Baretto, President, ICYM Udupi, honouring the resource persons of the training program with a token of gratitude.

With its interactive activities and thought-provoking discussions, SPIRIT QUEST successfully empowered young leaders from the diocese of Udupi, equipping them with the knowledge and skill required to nurture faith-based learning in their respective communities.
