Hazaribag, Jharkhand, July 3, 2025: The Catholic Diocese of Hazaribag in Jharkhand conducted an orientation session on the Final Document of the 36th CCBI Plenary Assembly on Friday, June 27, 2025. The session was held at the Conference Hall of the Bishop’s House in Hazaribag.
Organised on the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the event gathered approximately 200 priests and religious from across the diocese to engage in a day of prayerful reflection and discernment on the final document titled “Pilgrims of Hope: Discerning the Synodal Path”.
The orientation aimed to inform and mobilise the clergy and religious on the implementation of the Synodal journey as outlined in the document by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI).
The session began with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, during which participants prayed deeply over the Synodal theme.
Following the adoration and benediction, Most Rev. Anand Jojo, Bishop of Hazaribag, delivered a comprehensive address. He outlined the processes and methods used by the CCBI Secretariat and a team of experts who carefully edited and published the final document. He also offered a detailed overview of the core themes and key areas of focus that emerged from the bishops’ spiritual conversations during the plenary assembly held earlier this year in Bhubaneswar.
These themes include Faith Formation and the Word of God, Children, Family, Youth, Laity, Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC), Migrants and Refugees, Dalits, Tribals, Adivasis and other Socially Excluded Individuals, Women and Gender Justice, Poverty and Equitable Economy, Digital Technology and Social Media, Ecology and Climate Stewardship, Ecumenism and Inter-religious Dialogue, and Peace Building.
Bishop Jojo articulated the priorities for immediate consideration and implementation at the CCBI, as well as at the regional, diocesan, and parish levels. He urged the priests and religious to seamlessly integrate the CCBI pastoral plan into all ministries, executing them in a Synodal way within the Diocese of Hazaribag.
The orientation session concluded with a final prayer and a blessing being imparted to all the participants by Bishop Jojo.
