Mysore, Jan 15, 2026: Emphasising the Catholic Church’s commitment to interreligious dialogue and social harmony, the Interreligious Dialogue Secretariat of the Diocese of Mysore was present at the 163rd birth anniversary celebration of Swami Vivekananda, held in Srirangapatna, Mysore, on January 12.
Organised by the Pragnyavantha Association, the programme brought together participants from various faith backgrounds, reflecting a shared commitment to dialogue, peace, and mutual respect.
Representing the Catholic Church, the Secretary for Interreligious Dialogue of the Diocese of Mysore addressed the gathering and highlighted the continuing relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings from an interfaith perspective. The reflection underlined the importance of youth empowerment, love, and service to humanity—values that resonate closely with the Church’s social and pastoral mission.
Dignitaries and participants from Hindu, Muslim, and Buddhist backgrounds, along with members of civil society, were also present at the programme, contributing to an atmosphere of mutual understanding and respectful engagement.
The observance echoed Swami Vivekananda’s message of unity, compassion, and harmony, while reaffirming the Catholic Church’s engagement in fostering interreligious understanding and peaceful coexistence.
