Delhi, July 11, 2025: Delhi-NCR experienced earthquake tremors for the second consecutive day on Friday, 11 July, with the epicentre once again located in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
“EQ of M: 3.7, On: 11/07/2025 19:49:43 IST, Lat: 28.68 N, Long: 76.72 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Jhajjar, Haryana,” the NCS confirmed in a post on X.
Residents of Delhi and Gurugram quickly took to social media to share that they had felt the tremors.
On Thursday, an earthquake measuring magnitude 4.4 struck near Jhajjar in Haryana in the morning, sending tremors across the Delhi-NCR region. The epicentre was located three kilometres northeast of Jhajjar and about 51 km west of Delhi. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the quake occurred at a depth of 10 km at 9:04 am.
The strong tremors on Thursday were also felt in neighbouring districts including Rohtak and Gurugram, as well as in Panipat, Hisar, and parts of Uttar Pradesh such as Ghaziabad, Noida and Meerut.
Earlier this year, on 17 February, a similar earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale struck Delhi-NCR at a depth of five kilometres. The NCS reported that the tremors were felt at 5:36 am, prompting residents to rush outdoors in panic.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.0, Occurred on 17-02-24, 5:36 AM IST, Lat: 28.59°N & Long: 77.16°E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 9 km E of New Delhi,” the NCS had posted on X.
Delhi lies in Seismic Zone IV, which is classified as a “High Damage Risk Zone” and indicates a significant potential for earthquakes of moderate to high intensity.
