Bengaluru, August 1, 2025: St. Joseph's University, Bengaluru, welcomed over 1,300 visitors—including high school and PUC students, parents, principals, teachers, and educationists—during its vibrant Open Day 2025 held on 28 July. The annual event served as a dynamic platform to showcase the university’s commitment to academic excellence, inclusive learning, and creative innovation, with more than 180 exhibits presented by SJU students and visiting schools.
The inaugural ceremony was led by Fr. Dr. Victor Lobo S.J., Vice Chancellor; Dr. Chandrabhas Narayana, Director of the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology; and Dr. V. Christo Selvan, Convenor of Open Day 2025. A soulful performance by the university choir set the tone for the day, followed by a keynote address by Dr. Narayana, who underscored the role of creativity and resilience in education. Fr. Lobo reflected on the Jesuit values of social justice, transformation, and academic curiosity in his address.
Students from 27 institutions explored the campus through guided tours, subject-based demonstrations, and career guidance sessions. Engaging activities such as parliamentary debates, sports challenges, and scientific simulations offered an interactive and enriching learning experience.
Notable exhibits included the History Department’s recreation of the Vijayanagara Empire, a pain-free injection model inspired by mosquito anatomy by the Department of Zoology, and the Commerce Department’s innovations like “SegreBot” and “From Collapse to Catalyst.” The Science departments drew attention with their work on cancer research, bioplastics, ferrofluid-based microplastic removal, and solar-powered robots. The Language departments celebrated linguistic and cultural heritage, while Media and Journalism students impressed with immersive installations and investigative exhibits.
A key academic session titled “Building Academic Bridges” facilitated dialogue between school principals and university administrators, fostering potential collaborations on research, internships, and interdisciplinary programmes. Contributors included education leaders such as Ms. Manila Carvalho, Principal of DPS East, who offered insights on building future-ready learning ecosystems.
The Student Parliamentary Assembly 2025 replicated real-world legislative debates, encouraging civic awareness and critical thinking among youth. Meanwhile, a parent-focused session titled “Higher Education – Evolving Opportunities and Options” explored current trends in student development and academic pathways.
At the valedictory ceremony, Delhi Public School, Electronic City, was awarded the overall championship, followed by School of India in second place under the High School and PUC category. The School of Communication and Media Studies clinched the overall championship in the SJU category—marking a moment of pride for the host institution.
St. Joseph's University’s Open Day 2025 was more than a showcase—it was a celebration of collaboration, creativity, and holistic education, offering a glimpse into a future built on knowledge, empathy, and innovation.
