VATICAN CITY, November 4, 2026:: Pope Leo XIV has invited Catholics around the world to dedicate their prayers during November to the proper use of wealth, urging people to recognise that true riches are found not in accumulating possessions but in sharing generously with others.
The Holy Father released his November prayer intention through the monthly ‘Pray with the Pope’ video, prepared by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. His message calls for a change in how individuals, families and communities understand wealth, placing generosity, justice and service above selfishness and material accumulation.
In his prayer, Pope Leo recalled that everything human beings possess ultimately comes from God, including fertile land, personal talents and the efforts of previous generations.
“Nothing is ours alone — everything is a shared gift,” he said.
The Pope warned that the pursuit of wealth can harden hearts, encourage selfishness and make people indifferent to the suffering of the most vulnerable.
“Forgive us for storing up instead of sharing,” he prayed, asking forgiveness for treating material possessions as instruments of power rather than opportunities for service.
Reflecting on the teachings of Jesus, Pope Leo emphasised that genuine wealth is measured not by what people retain but by what they give with love. A heart detached from excessive attachment to possessions, he said, can help transform society by promoting justice, overcoming indifference and bringing hope to the poor.
He encouraged the faithful to use not only money but also their time, talents and opportunities as instruments of fraternity.
The Pope also called for economic, family and community decisions to be guided by generosity and concern for the common good. Every resource, he reminded Catholics, carries a responsibility towards others.
Concluding his prayer, he asked that Christians become witnesses to a form of wealth transformed into service and mercy, helping build a world rooted in justice and peace.
The monthly intention is promoted by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, established in 1844 as the Apostleship of Prayer and entrusted to the Society of Jesus.
In December 2020, Pope Francis established the organisation as a Vatican Foundation, approving its final statutes in July 2024.
Today, the network is present in more than 92 countries and brings together over 22 million people seeking to respond to God's mission through daily prayer and spiritual commitment.
Through its monthly intentions, the Pope invites Catholics to reflect and pray about important challenges facing humanity and the Church.
This November, the message is clear: wealth finds its deepest meaning when it becomes a means of sharing, compassion and service to others.
