KBM School Wins Overall Championship at Miao Diocese’s Radiance 2026

Namsai, October 25, 2026: Krick and Bourry Memorial School (KBM), Tezu, won the overall championship at Radiance 2026, a four-day inter-school cultural and literary competition organised by Newman Educational Society (NES), the educational wing of the Diocese of Miao in Arunachal Pradesh.

Held from October 21 to 24 at St. Mary’s School, Namsai, the event brought together 530 students and 70 accompanying staff members from 20 schools under the theme “Celebrating Roots – Embracing Horizons.”

San Bonaventure School, Dumba, secured second place, while Light of the World School, Miao, finished third.

Kamlung Mosang, MLA from the 50-Miao Assembly Constituency and adviser to the Arunachal Pradesh chief minister, inaugurated the event. Drawing on his own student experiences, he urged participants to pursue their ambitions through a practical approach: “Dream – Plan – Prepare – Act – Achieve.”

He stressed the importance of hard work and a strong work culture, encouraging young people to keep God at the centre of their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.

Lobsom Tsering, deputy commissioner of Namsai district, appreciated the organisers for choosing a theme that encourages students to understand their heritage while exploring new perspectives. He highlighted the role of literature in broadening young people’s understanding of the world.

Vishwanath Paranjape, commandant of the CRPF’s 186 Battalion, urged participants to balance their connection to their roots with aspirations for the future. He also emphasised teamwork, discipline and hard work.

The competitions included group and solo singing and dancing, drawing and painting, cultural parades, tableaux, skits, theme dances, fancy dress, prepared speeches and extempore speaking. Students competed in sub-junior, junior and senior categories.

At the concluding ceremony, Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao, patron of Newman Educational Society, congratulated the winners and encouraged all participants to value the experience they had gained.

“Congratulations to the winners, and to those who did not win, the experience you gained during these four days is your best trophy,” he said.

Bishop George emphasised that education should extend beyond academic performance and examinations to nurture creativity, artistic expression and respect for diversity. He encouraged students to broaden their horizons and pursue their aspirations with confidence.

Chau Sujana Namchoom, chairperson of the Zilla Parishad, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed trophies and certificates to the winners. He commended the organisers and noted that such gatherings allow students from different districts to learn about one another’s traditions, strengthening mutual understanding among communities.

Fr. Shoby Simon, secretary of Newman Educational Society, thanked the participating schools, students, accompanying staff and host institution for their cooperation.

Radiance 2026 highlighted Newman Educational Society’s commitment to holistic education, providing students with opportunities to develop their talents, confidence, discipline and communication skills beyond the classroom.
