Bidar, June 27, 2025 – The Diocese of Gulbarga, as part of its ongoing missionary formation efforts, organised a Mission Orientation Programme on June 26 for newly arrived priests and religious in the Bidar Deanery. Continuing its annual tradition, this year’s session brought together 25 participants who have recently joined the diocese to begin their ministry.
The orientation was marked by a spirit of welcome and missionary zeal, reflecting the unique character of the Gulbarga Diocese—renowned for its rich potential for direct evangelisation. As a missionary diocese, it stands apart through its commitment to village ministry and its embrace of the region’s cultural diversity and deep spiritual hunger.
Most Rev. Dr. Robert Miranda, Bishop of Gulbarga, set the tone for the day with an inspiring session on mission dynamics. He emphasised the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and journeying together in the spirit of a synodal Church. His message encouraged participants to live out their missionary calling with openness and shared responsibility.
Fr. Sagar, drawing from his extensive grassroots experience, offered valuable insights into the local culture, language, and customs—key elements for effective evangelisation in a region as diverse as Bidar.
Fr. Santhosh Bapu shared the inspiring journey of the Diocese of Gulbarga, highlighting its growth and missionary priorities across education, social service, health care, and faith formation.
The orientation provided a platform for dialogue, learning, and fellowship among the new missionaries, preparing them to serve with deeper understanding, unity, and passion.
The Bidar Deanery, with its distinct cultural fabric and flourishing village ministry, continues to offer fertile ground for evangelisation and transformative missionary work. The Diocese of Gulbarga remains steadfast in equipping its ministers to be effective instruments of Christ’s love and service.
