Don Bosco School, Panjim Equips Teachers with AI Skills Through Hands-On Workshop

Panjim, Goa, August 1, 2026: Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim, organised a full-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop for more than 60 teachers on 31 July, reinforcing its commitment to integrating emerging technologies into education.

Held under the leadership of Principal Fr. Avin Carvalho, the workshop was led by Leo Victor, an AI trainer and Google Certified Generative AI Professional. He introduced participants to the growing role of AI in education and demonstrated how it can support lesson planning, assessment, content creation and classroom engagement.

Teachers gained hands-on experience with a range of AI-powered tools, including ChatGPT, Google Flow, Google Gemini, Google Storybook and MagicSchool. The practical sessions focused on creating lesson plans, presentations, worksheets, quizzes, educational graphics and other teaching resources efficiently.

Addressing the participants, Leo Victor stressed that AI is not a replacement for teachers but a powerful assistant that enhances creativity, productivity and effectiveness in the classroom. He also highlighted the importance of using AI responsibly, emphasising ethical practices, critical thinking and the educator's role in guiding students to use technology wisely.

The workshop received an enthusiastic response from the faculty, with many describing it as one of the most practical professional development programmes they had attended. Participants appreciated the hands-on approach and said the training gave them the confidence to incorporate AI tools into their teaching. Several also welcomed the emphasis on the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, noting that technology should always remain at the service of the human person.

Teachers expressed their gratitude to Fr. Avin Carvalho for organising the programme and providing an opportunity to learn from an experienced AI trainer.

By the end of the workshop, participants had developed practical skills in AI prompting, educational content creation, classroom planning and digital productivity. Many said they looked forward to applying these tools in their teaching.
