Shimoga, August 6, 2025: The Diocese of Shimoga celebrated Vianney Day on 4th August at Sannidhi, Shivamogga, bringing together priests and religious for a meaningful occasion marked by prayer, reflection, and fraternal bonding. The celebration was preceded by a clergy recollection organised by Bishop Francis Serrao SJ on 3rd and 4th August.
Fr. John Sequiera OCD served as the preacher for the recollection, which featured two insightful talks centred on "Our Christian identity" and "Our identity as Priests." Fr. Sunil Rodrigues OCD introduced the preacher. Confession and adoration were held, and the adoration was led by Fr. Nelson Pinto OCD.
Bishop Francis Serrao SJ, joined by priests and religious men and women, presided over the Holy Eucharist. During the celebration, Fr. Sunil Rodrigues OCD offered a thought-provoking homily.
The CRI unit of the Diocese of Shimoga conducted a special programme, during which the Bishop and all the jubilarians—namely: Fr. Jose B. Castelino, Fr. George K. A., Fr. Santhosh D'Cunha, Fr. Franklin D'Souza, Fr. Lancy Barthalomeo D'Souza, and Fr. Stephen Maxi Albuquerque—were felicitated. The unit also organised games for the priests, fostering a joyful and engaging atmosphere.
Bishop Francis Serrao SJ then addressed those present, sharing his message and relevant information. Representing all gathered, Msgr. Fr. Stany D'Souza, Vicar General of the Diocese of Shimoga, extended the vote of thanks.
The entire programme for the priests was thoughtfully coordinated by Fr. Sunil Rodrigues OCD, President of CRI, Diocese of Shimoga, along with his dedicated team.
