Diocese of Eluru Celebrates Infant Jesus Feast with Outreach to Fire-Affected Family

Eluru, February 25, 2026: Faith and charity converged as the Diocese of Eluru solemnly celebrated the Annual Feast of the Infant Jesus at Dondapudi Parish on February 24, combining liturgical celebration with compassionate assistance to a family affected by a tragic fire accident.

The festal Holy Eucharist was presided over by Bishop Jaya Rao Polimera, with several diocesan and religious priests concelebrating. In his homily, the Bishop emphasised humility as the foundation of authentic devotion and called the faithful to embrace the Lenten season as a time of interior conversion expressed through love of neighbour. A large gathering of parishioners participated in the liturgy with prayerful fervour.

On the same day, a devastating fire in Jagannadhapuram, under Janampeta Quasi Parish, left a family homeless after an electrical short circuit triggered a blaze that was intensified by a gas cylinder explosion. Responding swiftly, the Eluru Social Service Centre, acting under the guidance of the Bishop, visited the site and provided immediate relief, including food grains, utensils, clothing, and essential supplies.

Fr Tatapudi Emmanuel, Director of the Social Service Centre, assured the affected family of continued accompaniment and support, reaffirming the diocesan commitment to stand in solidarity with those facing hardship.

The day’s observance offered a compelling witness to faith in action—honouring the Infant Jesus in the Eucharistic celebration and serving Him through concrete works of charity.
