Church in Manipur Unites in Prayer for Peace, Calls for Rosary on May 31

Imphal, May 30, 2026: In a powerful expression of faith, unity, and hope, the Archdiocese of Imphal has called for an “All Manipur Rosary Prayer Day” to be observed on May 31, 2026, in all parishes across the Archdiocese, invoking prayers for peace and healing in the State.

The initiative comes as the Catholic Church in Manipur continues to remain united in faith and mission, with clergy, religious, and lay faithful serving communities while strengthening efforts toward peace, healing, and reconciliation amid the prevailing tensions.

In a pastoral message dated May 22, Archbishop Dr. Linus Neli invited the faithful to gather as “one family of faith” to pray for “peace, healing, and harmony in our land” during the Marian month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

“Let us remember that no wound is beyond God’s healing grace and no darkness beyond His light,” the Archbishop said in his message, urging the faithful to seek the intercession of Mary, Queen of Peace, for reconciliation and lasting peace in Manipur.

Parishes have also been encouraged to gather their communities for the Rosary under the pastoral leadership of parish priests as a visible expression of unity, prayer, and solidarity.

Church leaders have reaffirmed that, despite the social and ethnic divisions affecting certain regions, ecclesial communion within the Church remains strong. Parishes continue to celebrate the sacraments, carry out pastoral ministry, and engage in charitable outreach, serving people across communities without discrimination.

While exercising pastoral prudence in sensitive situations, the Church has remained steadfast in its mission of accompaniment and service. The Archdiocese of Imphal has consistently appealed for peace, dialogue, mutual understanding, and reconciliation, encouraging all sections of society to work toward restoring harmony and lasting stability in the region.

Church leaders continue to emphasise that the mission of the Church in Manipur is one of accompaniment, reconciliation, and hope, especially amid ongoing social challenges and uncertainty. In these difficult times, the Church remains committed to prayerfully walking alongside the people of Manipur, fostering dialogue, healing, and mutual understanding among communities.

As Manipur journeys through a period of pain and division, the Church renews its call for peace, harmony, and solidarity, urging all people to work together in rebuilding trust and safeguarding the shared dignity of every community.
