Church and Civic Leaders Honour Archbishop Anil Couto on Episcopal Silver Jubilee

New Delhi, March 19, 2026 — A distinguished gathering of Church representatives, political leaders and members of various faith traditions came together at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi to felicitate Archbishop Anil J. T. Couto on the completion of 25 years of episcopal ministry.

The celebration, marked by interfaith participation and civic recognition, highlighted the Archbishop’s enduring contributions to pastoral leadership, education, social outreach and the promotion of harmony in a pluralistic society. The event reflected not only ecclesial gratitude but also a broader public acknowledgment of his service to the nation.

The programme commenced with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a welcome address by Msgr. Vincent D’Souza. A biographical presentation by Fr. T. J. Jose, accompanied by a video, traced significant milestones in Archbishop Couto’s pastoral journey and episcopal ministry.

Among the dignitaries present were P. Wilson and Robin Hibu, along with leaders from different Christian denominations and representatives of other religious communities. Their presence underscored a spirit of unity and shared respect across religious and civic spheres.

The event was coordinated and anchored by Fr. Norbert Herman, ensuring a seamless flow of proceedings. A notable highlight of the evening was the release of the ACEC-I Newsletter by Archbishop Couto, adding a commemorative touch to the occasion.

The felicitation served as a testament to Archbishop Couto’s steadfast commitment to faith, service and social responsibility—values that continue to resonate within the Church and in the wider fabric of society.
