Communio Mission Awakening at the Tura Diocesan Pastoral Meet

DIOCESAN PASTORAL CENTER, WALBAKGRE, TURA DIOCESE, MEGHALAYA, 15 November 2025 : The Tura Diocesan Pastoral Meeting was held at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Walbakgre, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya. Parish priests, vice presidents, and commission representatives from various parishes participated wholeheartedly. Altogether, around 150 members gathered for this important pastoral assembly.

The meeting was graced and led by Most Rev. Andrew R. Marak, Bishop of Tura, and Most Rev. Jose Cherakal, Auxiliary Bishop of Tura. Their pastoral insights, encouragement, and guidance strengthened the spirit of communion and mission among all present.

The Communio Team, together with the Communio Volunteers, was given an opportunity By Bishops to present what Communio stands for and the vision behind its Missionary Animation Programme, which seeks to form, empower, and accompany youth for meaningful missionary involvement in the Church.

The informative session was led by Fr. Vignan Das and Sr. Margarita Dias, SCB, Associate Directors for Communio. They explained clearly the nature, mission, and functions of Communio, as well as the Missionary Training Programmes conducted across the country for young people and parish communities.

The presentation highlighted the role of youth as catalysts of hope, service, and evangelisation in today’s world.

During the session, Fr. Vignan Das shared,

“Communio is not just a programme—it is a movement that brings the Church together, strengthens our faith communities, and forms our young people to be missionary disciples. When our youth rise, the Church rises with them.”

Echoing this vision, Sr. Margarita Dias SCB, expressed,

“Communio invites us to see the Church as one family. Through missionary animation and exposure programmes, we help our young people discover their purpose, their gifts, and the joy of serving God’s people with compassion.”

Sr. Margarita Dias, SCB, Associate Director of Communio, also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Andrew Marak, Auxiliary Bishop Jose Cherakal, Fr. Vincent, Diocesan Youth Director of Tura Diocese, Fr. Benjamin, Bishop’s Secretary, Fr. Kurian, Communio Director, and all the parish priests and coordinators who ensured the systematic, meaningful, and well-organised Mission Exposure Programme for the Communio Volunteers in the Diocese of Tura.
