Ajni, Nagpur, July 22, 2025: Under the patronage of Bishop Dr. Elias Gonsalves and the dynamic leadership of Diocesan Youth Director Fr. Augustine Antony D’silva, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Nagpur successfully conducted the ‘Raho Hopeful’ youth programme for Ajni Deanery on Sunday, 20 July. The event took place at the Parish Hall of St. Anthony’s Church, Ajni.
The initiative aimed to deliver a powerful message of hope and enhance the youth’s understanding of the four key documents of the Catholic Church, fostering both spiritual and intellectual growth in their faith journey.
Over 100 vibrant and enthusiastic youth from parishes across the deanery participated in the day-long programme. Proceedings began with registration and breakfast, offering an informal start and allowing attendees to connect.
Mr. Vivian Wasnik, President of ICYM Nagpur, opened the event with a brief introduction to the day’s theme and objectives. This was followed by a session of action songs, which set an energetic and joyful tone for the gathering.
A formal welcome was then extended to the attending dignitaries, including Fr Robert, Dean of Ajni Deanery, Fr. Sanjeev Kujur, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Anthony’s Church, Sr. Angel Wangsu MSMHC, Diocesan Youth In-charge, and other esteemed guests.
The first session of the day, centred on Hope, was delivered by Mr. Melwyn Titus. His inspiring words encouraged the youth to remain steadfast in faith, especially in challenging times. After a short tea break, Sr. Megha SMMI led an insightful session on the four key documents of the Church, presenting complex teachings in a relatable and understandable manner for the youth.
Participants were later invited to submit their thoughts and feedback via Google Forms, an initiative aimed at shaping future youth programmes more effectively.
The gathering then moved to the church for a time of adoration, allowing for quiet prayer and reflection in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
Mr. Sylvester Clarke, WRYC Joint Treasurer, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved in making the event a success.
The day concluded with a delicious lunch, shared in a spirit of fellowship, bringing to close a spiritually enriching and empowering experience for the youth of Ajni Deanery.
‘Raho Hopeful’ proved to be a powerful reminder of the importance of faith, unity, and the enduring relevance of Church teachings.
