Discussions in Mumbai Explore New Possibilities for The Chosen Across the Archdiocese

Mumbai, 9 June 2026: A meeting convened at the Archbishop’s House in Mumbai on 8 June explored opportunities for incorporating The Chosen into parish initiatives and community engagement efforts throughout the Archdiocese of Mumbai.

Archbishop John Rodrigues of Mumbai, and Auxiliary Bishop Stephen Fernandes of Mumbai, met with Mr. Ashish Nag, Asia Lead for The Chosen, and Mr. Ajin Joseph, CCBI’s Catholic Engagement Manager for The Chosen and Associate Secretary of the Family Commission.

The gathering focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration with The Chosen India and how Chosen Encounter sessions could be introduced in parishes across the Archdiocese. During the meeting, selected scenes from the series were screened, offering a glimpse into the way the story of Jesus continues to resonate with audiences around the world.

The discussions also explored possibilities for conducting Chosen Encounter sessions for parish priests, members of the Conference of Religious India (CRI), and educational institutions, creating spaces where communities can gather around the life of Jesus and engage in meaningful reflection and conversation.

Attendees also reflected on the upcoming theatrical release of The Chosen: Crucifixion, expected in early 2027, and explored ways in which the film could be introduced to wider audiences across the region.

The meeting concluded with a fruitful time of Conversation in the Spirit, marked by attentive listening, shared reflection, and a common desire to help more people encounter the story of Jesus through film and community.

As conversations continue, the gathering marked another step toward creating opportunities for people across Mumbai to experience the Gospel story in fresh and meaningful ways.
