New Delhi, May 27, 2026: Officials of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) felicitated the newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Kerala, V. D. Satheesan, during a meeting held at Kerala House, New Delhi, on Tuesday.
Fr. Stephen Alathara, Deputy Secretary General of the CCBI and Fr. Adv. Jaison Vadassery, Executive Secretary of the CCBI Commission for Migrants, met the Chief Minister while he was in the national capital for discussions with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
During the meeting, Fr. Stephen Alathara presented the Chief Minister with a traditional Mizo tribal shawl from Mizoram. He also presented a copy of Dilexi Te, the first Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Leo XIV, published on 9 October 2025. Subtitled “On Love for the Poor,” the document reflects on Christ’s love for the poor and calls the Church to renew its commitment to the needy and marginalised. Fr. Alathara remarked that the first concern of every government should be the welfare of the poor and vulnerable.
In an informal interaction, the CCBI officials shared their hopes and aspirations for Kerala and assured the Chief Minister of their wholehearted support in promoting peace, harmony, and social unity in the state, free from polarisation and division.
